Love Poem: The Little Things

The Little Things

I didn’t know that folding clothes
could ever feel so grand
but when I’m here beside my friend
I know it truly can.

For as she calmly sits, I smile
while I fold her clothes and stand
here, in her sunny, small bedroom
I love giving her a hand.

We laugh and share or sing a tune
and as we share our friendship blooms
for she is ill of health and truly needs
a willing, healthy friend like me
to help her with the little things.

Life has been hard, but she trusts in God
when we’re together, our inner joy springs.

Whether it’s cleaning dishes or doing laundry
it gives me happiness to help, you see
such simple acts are a labor of love
that give pleasure to our Lord above.

To view the world with caring eyes
unlocks the heart, makes the spirit rise
I’ve found contentment’s secret here today
it’s to help with all the little things
and to give my life away.
