Love Poem: The Letter

The Letter

It had been six lonely months
Since the love of his life had passed
His heart lay in solace
His mind had lots of regrets
What could he had done different
Did he tell her "I love you" enough
Maybe she would have stayed longer
If these words she would have heard
Going through her belongings
Sorting and deciding which to keep
which to let go
Laying within her paper work
Was a white envelope addressed to him
With a drawn heart and a set of lips
Reluctantly he opened it
His eyes filling with tears
A love letter from her to him
Telling him just what he needed to hear

My darling if you are reading this
My time on earth has passed
I wanted to leave you one last message
sealed with a heart for the love I'm sending
from Heaven
And a great big sloppy kiss
Please don't weep for me no longer
I have not went away
I'll be right here beside you
As you go through your beautiful life
Day to day
I'll watch and wait patiently
As many memories you make
I'll count the hours as they pass by
Until once again we can embrace
There was nothing more you could have done
To keep me there to life
My heart and soul needed to be free
My body no longer had the fight
You gave me so much more than I deserved
With your compassion and your love
I have an eternity of happiness
Right here inside my heart
I get to keep here with me in Heaven
treasured everyday laughs and touches
You helped me save up through the years
Until we meet again my love
Carry on and remember to take everything in
That is what life is for
It's the memories that we imprint
