The Last Year Over
THE LAST YEAR OVER
The last year nearly over and a new one about to begin
All gathered together with their friends - family and kin
Not everyone is religious - but a New Year is celebrated
All hope for the future - no matter how it may be fated
Handshakes given - hugs and kisses too in every street
It’s the annual greeting even to strangers that you meet
There is no religious divide even if your New Year is later
All that good will is to all a fabulous feel good generator
So here’s to all of you may it be near or may it be so far
Blessings gathered for all in life’s unique love’s reservoir
To be passed amongst the nations and drunk with relish
This one true day - that one should be sure to embellish
A “HAPPY NEW YEAR” to all those I know or yet to meet
May this year for you remain happy - healthy and sweet
