Love Poem: The Last Dream

The Last Dream

The Last Dream

So many dreams for a life time
Faded
Their lost glories
Fallen to the last hope
And cinder wishes

So many burnt in the blood of time
Squandered hopeless
The glimpses
Of much better lives
Unheeded moments
They fell parchment masks
From the mirror

Could have been they whispered
Could have been ghosts
They went weeping into the distance
Perchance someday to be dreamed again

And the very last dream of a man
The very last wish
He clung to fierce
Will not
Will not
Let this one slip
He kept for all he was worth
The faith
He held in love

So many lost
That bore him no fruit
Though he sought their seeds
Dug to their root
To find their growth
And become for him another life
So many lost

But the very last dream
He tightly holds
A strength steadfast
He believes in love
And though the robbers come stealing
In lonely hours
He will not relinquish the illusive promise
But wait in the tracks of destiny

For more than anything or any time
This time he believes
This time
It’s the very last dream
