The Introduction

When my Mother introduced you to me,
My life changed in ways I had not expected,
It was always a pleasure to take you out with me,
You got me invited to places I never expected.

You stimulated conversation at any and every table,
And always made sure I got due attention,
My life had never been so stable,
I made sure you got a good write up in a magazine of distinction,
You please me in ways no other would be able.

I will always delight in the the first sight of you,
In a different guise each day,
I can never get enough of you,
You bring such wonderful flavour to each and every day,
I have lots of friends thanks to you.

So here's to you Mother,
For giving me such a good start in life,
I will always be grateful to you Mother,
For sharing your secret to a successful life,
And for entrusting me with a recipe book like no other,
That set me up for decadent life,
Producing a range of pastries to make without any bother,
That led me to a wife,
Like no other.

I also took your advice to go easy on the cream,
And not to talk with my mouth full,
As I don't want a doctor to shatter my dream,
And tell me I have had my fill,
That it is time to live a life that is tame,
And switch to taking a daily pill.
