The He and the She

She ran away from Kentucky in the middle of the night.
With excitement.
And love.
And a belly-full of adventurous ideas,
and her best friend, He.

He and she had recognized the eternal sadness in each other's eyes.
The second they met.
Sorrow recognizes sorrow.
Downtrodden recognizes downtrodden.
Sad recognizes sad.

He was smitten. She was terrified.
He began plotting their wedding, she was 6, so this made her mad.
She was not his friend for awhile.
They grew up, the she and the he.

They ran into each other, and it was like they had never been apart.
They recognized the pain in each other.
They recognized the hopelessness, and despair.

They ended up saving each other, the she and the he.
They faded the angry ways of their parents, and their grandparents.
They chose love instead of punishment, and they raised children with love, not anger, not silent rage.

They focused on their children's strengths, assets, talents, and ideas.
They built each other up, and they built their children up too.
Their children were the most cherished children on the planet.
It was as if they lived on an island of love.

Remember one thing,
God is Love
If you can do this,
you can save your children.
