The Goodbye Song

Something is not right tonight,
He hears a voice whisper in his ear,
With all that crowd believes it’s just his mind,
But deep down emerges a fear.
The band is singing a blue song,
About a red rose drenched in tears,
He grabs his coat and hit the road,
Because there is something she needs to hear.
She sings the goodbye song,
Pack her bags and says she’s done,
Talks about proximity of chance,
And how their love was just a dance.
But her smell still linger,
In their bedroom, on their bed,
She still got that ring on her finger,
And wants him to believe what she said!
He knows why she is down tonight,
Why the cigarettes and wine aren’t helping her,
He holds her close and grabs her tight,
To subside the pain both can’t bear.
And still she has to leave,
Catch that plane to her sun,
Oh! Love what a lovely gift you give,
She reaches the sun and he gets burnt.
