The Gold Digger
She wanted diamonds and gold,
He only wanted someone to have and to hold,
She wanted all the treasures of life,
He wanted her for his loving wife.
He gave all that he had,
But not enough, so sad.
A heart of stone and cold as ice,
She wanted the whole pie not just a slice.
On bended knees, he asked her for her hand,
She laughed at him, he could not understand.
He said you led me on, you lie and you deceive,
Someone someday will break your heart, then you’ll know what it’s like to hurt and grieve.
He turned to leave but he had to take one final look,
And thought how she played him like an open book.
He said my hurt won’t last and I’ll smile again,
And I wish you well and I hope you find happiness, I hope you win.
He said now that my eyes are open and I see so clear,
I thought you were what I wanted as he shook his head and wiped away a lonely tear.
