Love Poem: The Gift

The Gift

Snow falling heavily on my shoulders,
soft crunch underfoot,
harsh bite of air in my face,
must pick up the pace

My hand frozen on my staff
stillness in the air
sky thick and heavy with snow,
many miles to go

My sigh escapes me
in a cloud of breathy steam,
for this gift i carry,
i must not tarry

This precious thing
that comes with me
must be given
to the one who's has been chosen,
on this land of frozen

No more miles to go
in this land of falling snow,
the warmth of my gift
heats me so

stillness of air
snow falling silently

My heart guides me so ,
through ice and drifting snow
lantern light,
in growing dark of night

I will soon be there
for the gift cannot wait,
must never be late

Soft knock at wooden door,
it opens,
for this is the lady I saw
in my dreams,
the gift I carry for

Warmth of firelight,
I hold the gift I have carried so far,
in this land of white

I hold her hands in mine
golden light flows between
for you have just seen
the gift of love ,so fine

Her soft kiss,
melts my snow
this is my place,I know,
something not to miss.
through ice and snow drift
we both have the gift

For you only really know
in this land of ice and drifting snow,
that the heart beats so,
for the gift of love

Firelight flickering,
soft candlelight glowing,
my pulse quickening,
sharing the gift,
in our love making
