Love Poem: The Gift

The Gift

The Gift I give to you today ever so bold
Kept bound tight forever There it does go
Wrapped securely with paper of metallic gold
Kept safe and sound from dangers untold
Tied up with beautiful red ribbons and bows

The Gift has been sitting high upon a shelf
Kept There for so long just unto myself
Not touched or groped and never for sell
Kept a secret from those with cards undealt
Collecting history and inches of dust unfelt

The Gift has aged over a long period of time
Kept There for someone deep in my mind
Thinking that person impossibly elusive to find
Kept guarded to all the turns and twists unkind
Because it cannot be seen by those who are blind

The Gift I give you has no ultimate price
Kept in the dark and cold There sitting on ice
So willing to be be in a space so cool and nice
Kept hidden far away from knives that will slice
And just unwrapping the package will not suffice

The Gift once undone cannot be returned
Kept protected from all fires that could burn
Guard it dearly because now it's your turn
Kept deep inside There is my heart you will learn
Open The Gift because it is for you that it yearns
