Love Poem: The First Time

The First Time

The first time
I looked into those shining eyes
Laughing like starlight
Kind as the sapphire skies
I felt adored

The first time
My hand lingered in yours
Warm and comforted
By a sense of pure empathy
I felt valued

The first time
Soft lips, earnest and tender,
Fell across my own lips
With feelings so blessed
I felt treasured

The first time
I was embraced by your arms
Touching me gently
So strong – still so gentle
I felt important

The first time
I knew that I held your heart
With all of my being
I knew the meaning of caring
I felt appreciated

The first time
I gave you the song of my soul
Reaching out to you
Letting go of all control
I felt prized

The first time
I allowed you to see into my world
Where no one else had visited
Where only God had been
I felt respected

The first time
I realized that you were the answer
To every prayer I’d prayed
For someone to give to generously
I felt loved

Thank you, dear husband
For being the one to bring to me
All the joy that comes from knowing
God has answered a prayer
For someone who truly cares!

I love you!
