The First Love

When I first saw love, she wore a diamond necklace. When I first saw love I thought it was true. As love got stronger, she was harder to control, harder to keep her, harder to feel her. “Love” I called. “Love, what are you doing!” I said. But what was weird is that I knew what love was doing. Love, my dear love was sitting, staring, shaking, in pain they called it. She trembled at the sound of my voice, and love was no longer there for me, love failed me. We all know I failed love though. No! “I didn't fail her” I screamed. Love looking at her failed me, love looking at me like the world is going to end. That end though is a new beginning for me. I don’t need to bleed, I just need to succeed. I knew your little game love, your silly, stupid, mental game you were playing. She turned as I said “I won!” I knew this war was over, a war I won on my own. So this I knew that love waived that white flag and I knew I won. So goodbye love, this is over, your lost darling, your lost dear, your lost love.
