Love Poem: The Dream

The Dream

I wake up in a field of dying grass and weeds. This is not where I belong. I run, run, run, away.
Alas, I reach a lovely expanse of long beautiful green grass and colorful flowers blooming
everywhere. Now I just lay down and look up to the sky, savor the beauty and speak to the one
who will always love me. "Lord I thank you from the bottom of my heart, for all of these
treasures you have given me. Thank you for loving me unconditionally, thank you for bringing
me here." I feel that I am not alone and I look up to see the Lord standing before me. How did I
know it was him? I just knew, there was nothing to explain it. He spoke, "Dear child, I didn't
bring you here, it is your destiny, you were always meant to have happiness, beauty, and
serenity in your life." It was the most beautiful voice I had ever heard, and I felt like I couldn't
breathe let alone speak in the presence of the Holy One. "I love you," was all I could stammer
as the beams of sunlight carried him away from me. Did I imagine that? As the alarm buzzed in
my ear I realized that it was all a dream. As I sat up in bed I looked up and spoke, "I never
realized that the gorgeous field of colors was what my life was made of. I'de been suffocating in
the weeds for so long that I didn't notice what was right in front of me. Thank you and I love
you."
