Love Poem: The Day My Lover Left

The Day My Lover Left

The day my lover left it was a winter snow storm,
     I begged him not to go but he just laughed at me;
I snuggled under my blanket and was soon asleep,
          And in my dream, I heard the loud crash.

The crunch of metal and then there was silence,
     My spirit floated above the battered car, ethereal;
And that is where I found him beautifully dead,
         Hair a tangled raven cloud, I hovered above.

My spirit kissed his cold blue lips, goodby love,
     I lingered holding him close to my broken heart;
I woke up suddenly- loud knocking on the front door,
          Two police officers were standing there.

We regret to inform you . . . .
