Love Poem: The Dance

The Dance

We spin and twirl, arms embraced
Cheek to cheek, face to face
Stepping to the rhythms, holding close
To the tunes of endless songs

You give a nod, I turn a toe
We bow, catch hands
We feel our bodies close, skin to skin
Hearts in tune arm in arm
Our shadows dancing on the wall

Entwined together one to one
Dancing with your eyes over mine
Doing the tango, the waltz
Your hand on my waist, mine on your shoulder
Holding close, dancing tenderly
To the flowing rhythms of the song

Dance, my handsome man
Move slowly with me in the dark, hold me close
Let my flesh touch yours
Forever locked in this moment, this embrace
Your breath against my neck
Twirling around, feet barely touching the ground
Floating on a cloud

As we sway together in the midnight hour
The violins slowly fade
Hold me, twirl me one more time
Before the evening ends
