The Cursed Romantic Leper

The Cursed Romantic Leper.
.
Suffocating in excruciating loneliness
Drowning in despair
A tortured bewildered soul
Lost in a troubled world
That doesn’t care
.
I tried to climb a mountain
With the view of a glimmer of hope
But I slid right down in the putrid gutter
The mountain was a slippery slope
.
What is wrong with me
Are you repugnant and repulsive
By what your scrutiny of eye
Does see
.
I cannot live if I cannot love
And I cannot love because I do not live
For love is every part of me
Every sinew bone and flesh
I live in limbo
And every day another
Hellish death
.
The overflowing fountain
Of my tender loving heart
Is nothing more than a punch bag
That using pretenders
Cruelly tore apart
.
My ship of dreams never came
And floundered somewhere on the rocks
Romance for me is an idle dream
A closed door with a heavy lock
.
I hate no one
It is not in my heart or blood
For I am a victim of circumstance
And never understood
.
I’m just a lump of slowly rotting flesh
That decays a little more
With each labored breath
Surrounded by pretty women
Everywhere I go
Is like a needle to the eye
And blow to heart and soul
For this loving faithful heart
They’ll never appreciate
And never know
.
It hurts
It cuts deep
I toss and turn
Upon a bed of nails
On which I sleep
.
I have cried an ocean of internal tears
That burn like corrosive acid
Over so many lost years
My mind a prison
Life a blur
For I am but a leper
With so much love to share.
