Love Poem: The Butterfly of Fortaleza

The Butterfly of Fortaleza

I was filled with myopic adventure
Excitement, thrills and amour
I was off to Brazil
Who I ask? Could ask for anymore?

I was there with my butterfly net
For I was destined to capture beauty at sunset
So sure, this was my regal duty!
I captured love, within my fragile enticing naive heart

Holding on to the butterfly
Was for sure not the easy part
For my heart was a flutter
As the butterfly soared in the winds

It turns out love had captured me
The butterfly escaped, loved but free
So on the forest floor I wept
The rains of my tears, as Amazon’s condemned guest

Flooded with sadness, rusty bullets meant for the masses
Riddled with broken heart and cracked glasses
Even the wine I could not keep, love always leaks
The jungle consumes all, even loves so deep

If only a kiss was a kiss was a kiss
That held hope for a lover however amiss
Yet it was a passion, but for a moment in precious time
That ran away with the next thunder and hells lightening

Love can not always rhyme
