The Boy With the Dimples

He sits with his mother
And he has three other brothers
They are all just alike
And yet very different
He is so serious and so young
And his song is not yet sung
Still when he smiles
He's the boy with the dimples

He is older now
His milk white hair turned gold
He no longer sits with his mother
And he fights his three other brothers
His seriousness has grown
And sometimes he's terribly alone
Still when he smiles
He's the boy with the dimples

He keeps his pain inside
There is no one with whom he can confide
His humiliations are borne in silence
And no one understands who he is
Yet he is stronger than he knows
And his beauty begins to show
So when he smiles
He's not just the boy with the dimples

Now he's grown into a man
He is insightful and wise
He lovingly thinks of his mother
And he cries with his other brothers
He has become the person I love
Always the one I'm thinking of
And when he smiles
He's still the boy with the dimples
