Love Poem: The Blade, Abiding

The Blade, Abiding

You grasp "goodbye" like a dagger,

Knuckle-white heart squeezing the last drip of blood from your resolve

As you drag the jagged word across my throat,

One pitied kiss upon each eye to clot the wound, and yet ...

I smile, watching our memories puddle on the floor - an emotion undefined,

For you, my love, have saved me ... the trouble.
