That Is Love

When I see a mother hold a hand,
Crossing the street –
Tenderness apparent on her heart,
That’s love.

When I see a husband looking into the eyes…
Seeing a heart, a soul –
Never seeing past the twinkling of light
Sent to show him there is more –
Than what he once believed there was,
That’s love.

When I see a grandma, smiling wistfully,
As she fondles a photo,
There – a child once three…
That’s love.

When I see a puppy’s excitement…
It barks and jumps around frantically,
When it sees it’s master arriving – it waits…
Impatiently – That’s love.

When I see a jewel…, a dewlike sign,
like glitter on a star,
Whispering across the lashes…
Beckoning to the lover’s heart –
That’s love.

When I see a family…
Gathered around a table,
Flavors abundant, as conversations
Lead to lives meant for embracing…
That’s love.

When I see the sunlight, reflecting all He gave us,
The mountains and the seas,
The laughter – and the trees, the beautiful
That agrees… this is God’s gift to us….
That’s love!

When I see the music played,
By heavy hearts, aging gracefully…
Like the Southern summers – the Autumn’s faith…
The grieving Winter burdens… who still believe,
Believe in the rhythm of a heart who sees…
That’s love!

When I see – forever emerging…
When I see – darkness breaking through the shadows,
When I see – that life is filled with tears and laughter,
When I see – there truly is an eternity, hereafter…
That’s love!

When I see Him wiping away the sadness,
When I see Him silencing the doubtful,
When I see Him reminding me that He’s my Savior…
When I see… beyond the fears that upset me,
When I see… He is the One who will remind me…
That is LOVE!
