Love Poem: Terminal Velocity

Terminal Velocity

I fall
Headed for a crushing death
I scream to the wind so deaf
I took the leap
So faith please do keep
I fall
Into the atmosphere,
But still gasping for air
Seemingly fresh and clear,
But so cold and unsure
I fall
Like a waterfall
Drops
With passion and power and rage
Teardrops
I fall
Like a brick wall
Out of control
I fall
My terminal velocity
Cancelled out
By my escape velocity
Burning out
I fall
From the heavens where angels fly
Where the doves play
And I start to pray
For the hawk not to prey
I fall
Hoping the clouds will catch my fall
And the wind will run out of speed and stall
I fall
Upside-down and flipside up
To hear prayers going up
And my heartbeat to maximum rate
I fall on my knees hoping to spare my feet
I fall
To imitate the wing
It never flaps back
And carrying this ring
There’s no turning back
I fall
To see the beauty below
Of blue and green and the white of snow
And finally understand creation
And appreciate your natural selection
I fall
For days into nights
And weeks into months
Without food and drink
With my existence on the brink
I fall
Past this life and past the earth
Into your life and into my rebirth
I fall
With your love, hoping, as my parachute
Kissing the wind in my face as your substitute
I see your smile reflected on the face of the moon
In the midst of my depths I don't doubt you’ll be mine soon
I fall
Forever through
Until nothing can carry me
I fall
Forever true
Until only you can save me
I fall
Into you
I fall
For you
