Love Poem: Tell Me of Love, Tell Me of Life

Tell Me of Love, Tell Me of Life

Tell Me of Love, Tell Me of Life
By Kalyani Rajalingham

Is love but a mere passion
Aroused by sight, subdued by time,
Tied by law, tried by time,
To become rags and tatters that haunts the heart?

Is love but a mere friend
Hidden within trust, unveiled by solidarity,
Tied by knots, tried by age
To become a deep memory that relieves the heart?

Is love but a mere foe
Whispering of torment, silenced by teases,
Tied by hatred, tried by itself,
To become a cached wound that scars the heart?

Is love but a mere bond
Spoken in silence, Appeased by union,
Tied by force, tried by life,
To become a blessed burden to a withered heart?

Dearest, won’t you tell me of love?
