Love Poem: Tears In My Eyes

Tears In My Eyes

The rain keeps on falling
It’s gonna be one of those days
You said you’d get back and let me know
You can’t keep going on this way

I know you’ve tried to warn me
You’ve stuck with me though it all
My drinking’s got the best of me
This is probably my last call

I finally received your message
You said – “you will never change”
That I took you for granted
You’re tired of playing these silly games

You said it’s time for me
To read the part
About your last goodbye

But it’s so hard to read your letter
With tears in my eyes

The rains still falling
I hope I can weather the storm
It’s so cold in here without you
Your old picture - helps keep me warm

Thinking about the way we were
The tears start swelling in my eyes
I take a shot of whiskey
It helps me make it through the night

I’ll never forget your message
You said – “you will never change”
That I took you for granted
You’re tired of playing these silly games

You said it’s time for me
To read the part
About your last goodbye

But it’s so hard to read your letter
With tears in my eyes

[Bridge]

I’ll never forget the day you left
Things have never been the same
I did take you for granted
You moved on to better things

The good times I thought we had
Only made you cry
Baby, I just couldn’t see it
With tears in my eyes

I’ll never forget your message
You said – “you will never change”
That I took you for granted
You’re tired of playing these silly games

You said it’s time for me
To read the part
About your last goodbye

But it’s so hard to read your letter

With tears in my eyes

With tears in my eyes
