Love Poem: Tear Soaked Pillow

Tear Soaked Pillow

I told you tonight the way I see you,
How you fill me with love and hate too.

Now I know you don’t mean to yell,
Nor is that what really stings.
I let go of a giant bombshell,
And I thought I would be free,
But that is not at all what it brings.

When I was a little girl we were best of friends.
What happened to us?
Why did we let the good times end,
When we could have kept them going?
It really upsets me, I must confess.

I spilled my heart out,
And you turned and walked away.
All I wanted was to scream and shout,
Your name so you would turn.
Cause this no response stuff is child’s play.

But instead of yelling everything turned black,
And you disappeared.
With no chance to look back.
Everything got fuzzy,
And then formed together and smeared.

I was standing in the darkness,
When a light began to shine.
This problem I had yet to address,
For when the light shown in I awoke.
The whole conversation was a dream of mine.

A smile came across my face,
For my heart had not been shot with an arrow.
That conversation in my mind I could just erase.
It will be my dirty little secret,
The only evidence is a tear soaked pillow.
