Take the Chains Off

When did high school become a,
The precursor to a cutthroat future?
You have to have the best grades.
Have to wear the best clothes.
You have to be seen as having,
That status symbol.
That you are the it person.
PSAT, SAT, ACT,
This is just stressing everyone out.
You're expecting all to know,
What to do in your future.
On top of all this stress,
You have the hometown,
Sweethearts who think marriage,
That is the answer.
You realize you're stuck in the,
Same hometown you grew up in.
Married, tied down,
No career, dead-end job,
And your dreams are gone.
You are only 19, and you regret your life,
You need to make some serious life choices.
So, you like your life,
Stay and make the best out of it.
Of course, if you're not happy,
You need to make decisions.
Divorce, take the Chains off,
And begin to live your life.
