Love Poem: Taffeta, Lace and Silk

Taffeta, Lace and Silk

A vow of lies I should never have said,
Two words I wish I’d saved for me and you;
My wasted innocence on the wedding bed
Defiled the words of love that say ‘I do’.
A distant regret now haunts my mind, you see,
While watching you walking down towards me;
My vision of taffeta, lace and silk
Tainted by a past of the devil’s milk.
I seek your smile beneath the bridal veil,
My comfort before promises are made
And I give my heart as regrets now fade.
Later when I sip from your holy grail
And yield to the power of loving spells
I recall the joy of our wedding bells.
