Love Poem: Sweet Nothings

Sweet Nothings

I have tried to quench my thirsty heart
By sitting and staring at the raging sea
By letting myself be engulfed by the depth of the night sky
By burying my attention in my duties
By focusing my concentration in books and movies
But, so far, nothing worked!

Yes, for that which quenches my thirsty heart
Is listening to the sound of yours beating
As I rest my head on your chest
While we lay, sprawled, worn out,
In our nest!

That which quenches my thirsty heart
Is seeing the warmth in your eyes
As you glance at me, always seeking to listen to me
To answer to my queries
However trivial these may be!

That which quenches my thirsty heart
Is the way you nibble my whole being,
Cajoling me, teasing me, awaking me
While making me see stars in broad daylight!

That which quenches my thirsty heart
Is the smile you give me, so prompt and sincere
When you appreciate the way I look, the way I dress,
The habits I have, the person that I am!

That which quenches my thirsty heart
Is the way you melt, and bury your face in my bosom
As you read the poems that emerges from my soul
All imprinted with your essence and your aura!

Pray, do keep on quenching my thirsty heart
Else, I would be suffering from the ills of a drought
And such can be disastrous!
