Love Poem: Sweet Love

Sweet Love

Platonic starts, with dearest ends,
I felt for you no more than friends.
How could I know that I’d embark
On a journey sacred in an arc.

Yet now I look into your eyes,
And really think that nothing dies.
‘Cause real’s not real, but real to me
Is the boy, the man, the one I see.

I was told once by a seasoned Ms.,
Before I’d known your sensual kiss,
To fall in love, in love, sweet love,
And fly the feathers of a dove.

I’d touch the stars, you’d have my hand,
I’d steal the moon, we’d walk the sand,
The night, its secrets we can take,
The dawn, our golden hearts can make.

With you I’d any day commit,
And sweet gets sweeter bit by bit.
Those love-filled nights are precious jewels;
Our laughter makes us lovers fools.

I’d drink you up, my cup of life,
My blissful drug, my cure of strife.
You keep me strong, my spirits lift,
My head up high, my heartbeat swift.

The simplest things that you can give;
Your magic touch for which I live,
One kiss has taught me how to trust,
Your scent, your skin, has taught me lust.

Your whisper, soothing like the sea,
Your breath like warm winds over me,
That bite, a loving sentiment,
You win my heart without consent.

And when you leave, I turn away,
And shed my first tear of the day.
For when you go I’m on my own,
Though since you’ve come I know I’ve grown.

A year ago I was a girl,
But now you’ve come I’m like a pearl.
A sacred pearl in depths of ocean,
You’re my keeper of devotion.

And only you can make me feel
Like what we have is most surreal.
Though dreams are dreamed to become true,
And so I rest to be with you.

As evenings end you disappear,
And as you go you need not hear:
Although I know you must away,
I love you so, I wish you’d stay.
