Love Poem: Survivors

Survivors

Survivors we two, when much succumbed
To marching time and changing years,
When onslaughts came and skies rained death
And shrapnel fell like metal tears.

Survivors we two, we fuelled the faith
  Of sweetest union, vows adhered,
When roses withered in the dust,
  And passing phases disappeared.

Survivors we two, we anchored close,
The children of a love supreme,
Tight and knitted, holding fast,
  Dreamers in a priceless dream.

Survivors we two, just you and I,
Resilient to the stones and slings,
And will remain survivors still
No matter what the future brings.
