Surely You Jest

What happened to Jacuniad,

that great dog I kept beside my

golden throne?

A grey and black brocade

a backdrop for a serenade,

little jester in the round,

a talisman

by lovers bound

come here and soothe

my fevered brow

I cannot save the world

right now.

too many runes to figure out

come sing some songs

you silly lout

I love the way your

bright hair curls

come take some rubies

take some pearls,come,

say you love me all the time

come make me up a happy rhyme

they say "My Kingdom for a horse!",

but I propose a better course:

my kingdom for a jester grand,

who sings a song,

and holds my hand.
