Suddenly
Suddenly the day dawned without you,
I felt the half-light break
Across a sheet of frozen rain,
And I declined to wake.
Just lay there on a bed of grief,
Denied commands to rise,
Cast the world out of my mind,
Squeezed shut the mourning eyes.
Suddenly I was with you,
My tears ceased and dried,
You smiled at me and gestured to
The angels by your side.
Time will pass and life go on,
And often I may cry,
Yet comfort lives down in my heart
Where some things never die.
