Love Poem: Sublime

Sublime

The dust lies dormant beneath the bed
Which holds the fragile life it bitterly longs to suffocate

Dissipating into the corners of imagination
My screams go unheard and unrecognized
Between the knife and an absent God
I choose the precariousness of the rusty blade

I am beyond the means of salvation
Passed the reason of logic
Just lift my head long enough
To see the sun rise

I was promised so much in this life
Yet to see any of it
I was denied too much to try
To see the truth from the fiction

Beyond the sun-bleached drapes breathes a world whom
Every day, devours countless victims, too naive to hide from God

Dissipating into the corners of imagination
My screams go unheard and unrecognized
Between the knife and an absent God
I choose the precariousness of the rusty blade

Heaven and Hell have the same masters
So long as I kiss the right ring
I’ll be subdued long enough
To see the blemishes on my choices

Drive right between what you want and what you need
I only care about what you fantasize and what you see
I am your only means of retribution
You’re my only way to reach my destination

Please, kiss me one more time
For my sight has died to intoxication
My make-believe is so much less
Than the reality you promise me

Than anything you promise me
