Love Poem: Strings

Strings

Don't be the strings on his guitar
He'll pick you every time
He'll play you like a love song
And make you wana cry
Should you cry tears of happiness
Cause he acted like he cared?
Cry a few more tears of joy
For the moments that you shared
Or will they be tears of heartache
Of sadness or of pain
Today he wrapped you in his arms
But tomorrow he'll go away
But wait, so soon he'll be back
To tell you that he really cares
And when your scared of life and all that it brings
He'll kiss you on the forehead
And chase away your fears
He wants to hold you close
And carress your pretty face
He calls you beautiful and baby
Says 'I love you' every day
But don't be the strings on his guitar
He'll pick you every time
He'll play you like a love song
And make you wana cry
Your falling hard your falling fast
He's got you in his hand
He says how much he misses you
His awesome, beautiful...friend
Wait... a friend
I mean nothing more to him than that
I'm so stupid. What a wretched fool I've been
How could I thought it was ever more than that
Today he looked me in the eye
And told me he don't like me
I'm a player girl, you know that right
Yeah, sunshine...I know
I say it cause I don't wana fight
I was the strings on his guitar
He picked me all the time
He played me sweet just like a love song
But in the end all I did was cry
Hearts can heal
Relationships can mend
But don't go fallin' for a charmer
Who treats you like the girl he wants
When all you are is his beautiful friend
