Love Poem: Strength

Strength

In all the stormy moments of our love
One thing replays each memory again
The fright you gave the little wild dove
When to the river through dark terrain
You ran away from me. I see the face
Of the water like a tongue licking light
And gulping over a stone in its pace
To enfold you, suck your lungs still tight
And left me dripping in guilt if I'd fail
To rescue you from the madness of your travail.
I sit by many big and mighty rivers still
Wondering since you left, if I have that will.
