Stood Up

We were to meet at the McDonald’s ramp,
Pedestrians adhered by keeping left
The morning with grey clouds was cold and damp
Commuters to beggars were blind and deaf.

A friendly face in pass gave me a smile
And soon amongst a mass of faces flown
I searched for you although it was futile
Alas, my eyes showed that I was alone

Was it McDonald’s by the town library?
Bloody Birmingham it’s the wrong city.
I’ll charge wherever like the cavalry!
Resigned I knew it may have just been me.

I windowed shopped to New Street train station
In which I found a pub for salvation
