Stolen Loves Life Sentence

This is my true story.
I will tell to you in rhyme,
when i worked at a psychiatric hospital,
i was only seventeen year old at the time.
when one old patient told me
the reason she was locked away,
she had given all her love to a soldier,
for her sin she was sentenced to stay.

Every wrinkle is a year of my incarceration.
The bags under my eyes hold the tears that have never dried.
My sin was to fall in love with a soldier,
who was sent off to war,
where he died.
I had fell with child out of wedlock,
put a slur on my family name.
My baby was taken away for adoption,
my parents said i had brought family shame.
I was placed in this institution,
to die will be my only release.
I pray every day for my child taken away,
only in death will i ever find peace.
For over sixty years ive been punished,
i cry every single day of my life.
Not for myself or the punishment ive recieved,
but for my child and my soldier,
that i should have been mother and wife.
Now that my lifes nearly over,
with no one to wish me farewell.
All that i ask is forgiveness,
for a lifetime thats put me through hell.
If i please god go to heaven
there is only one thing i would ask,
to be reunited with my lost loves,
so i can apologise for my past.
