Love Poem: Stilts In the Sky

Stilts In the Sky

We both hobbled through life, on our stilts, living in the clouds.
Mostly alone as there are not many of us sky people.
Sometimes we find another and we did.
The day we met, we held hands and found that we could dance, jump and run.
As long as we held hands. Love for sure! Destiny!
We built a future in the clouds, a house where we could live, a garden and a dog.
When she left and took my dreams,
I fell to the earth with my splintered and broken stilts, that took me so long to build.
Did she enjoy pushing me down? Was that her plan? Is she laughing now?
 Living with mortals again,
Their suffering is infectious, I get dirty here.
I do not have the energy to rebuild my stilts.
I cannot even see her again until I do.
She is in the sky and I am lying here in the dirt, bruised and alone.
It appears I have no choice but to build taller stronger stilts
Maybe ones that I can jump and dance alone, a new design.
I wonder if I could ever forgive her.
