Love Poem: Stepping Stones

Stepping Stones

Green velvet draped they lie,
turtle backed and pond weed fraught,
defiant jut in crystal babble,
set path for guidance to release,
promise true, eternal peace,
  and to the light escort.
Tread faint upon their shell,
with outstretched arms to balance weight,
tip-toe under rainbow arc,
in gloried mist and water spray,
rain clouds on a better day
  weathered clement and sedate.
Let go if you should fall
  and feel the undercurrent drain
away the giddy fear and hurt,
and bathe and heal your weary bones,
for always lie the stepping stones
  to take you home again.
