Staying In Touch

Staying in Touch!
Do you stay in touch with the people you love? If you do, then you might be an odd one for sure! Most who call, are just strangers that one has not heard of, Poor salesmen with smiles but with little allure! But 'staying in touch,' though its cost seems not dear, Is an art form whose colors seem faded more black! By the phone so abused at some point, it becomes clear Once safe in our toilets, now flushed by attack! Nostalgic are letters from somewhere away, With their colorful stamps that could hint of intrigue, To a farm in Dakotas, a dawn with no foreplay, Hen's eggs dropped on woven straw win no man's Krieg! Our friendships get masked by the noise of new ease In just touching our skin. There's scant time saved for thought! Do you parse or taste words that may only your heart please? Should friendship be thought of as 'given' or 'sought?' We're poets, my friend, though I may not be yours, For the colors of love won't all stay inside lines, And it's not who you love but your loving that contours The dreamer to landscapes that no man refines.
