Staring Into Space At the Art On the Wall

touching your soft skin
watching you smile while staring into space lost in thought
in complete disbelief that you are here in the same vicinity as me
wanting this moment to last forever
knowing the truth of it is you have to go home

loving you from a distance is not an easy thing
however we both find strength to manage despite each disadvantage
you make remaining faithful easy anyway
my upbringing inspires my internal personality
your previous experiences are the blueprint of your current stance

touching my coarse hands
stealing kisses beneath the surface of my timidity
stroking me with your hand slowly relaxing my heart rate
wanting to take it all further
knowing the truth of it is i have to go home

loving me from a distance is not a simple thing
getting my attention at all is a miracle within itself
in complete disbelief that you even acknowledged my presence
getting older has broadened your horizons
my previous experiences set the standard for how i now handle it all
