Love Poem: Stag King

Stag King

He comes so silent through the forest trees,
I thought he was borne of the misty air
His antlers proud against long flowing hair
And I wondered if he could see me freeze.
The setting sun was fading, he stood there,
And I could see blazing fire in his eyes
As he raised his head to greet the dark skies,
And I knew the maiden would soon declare
Her want and need to share his loving sighs.
In that clearing I saw their magic weave
So the Earth may know its joyous reprieve,
This perfect love would ne’er wear a disguise
In this way I saw what love can achieve
And on my knees I knew I must believe!
