Love Poem: Sound of Sense

Sound of Sense

Say what you will, and make it great,
But if you're speaking words of hate ...

          I won't listen.

Make your argument, stirred or calm,
But said with words that hurt or harm ...

          I won't listen.

Write your thoughts for all to see,
But if penned with animosity ...

          I won't listen.

Speak the truth, and speak it loud,
But if you're with the hateful crowd ...

          I won't listen.

Deliver your message, strong and true,
But if it's vitriol you spew ...

          I won't listen.

Your opinions may be all the best,
But if they fail the malice test ...

          I won't listen.

I know you want to change the world,
But if insults are what you've hurled ...

          I won't listen.

You may have wisdom, quite profound,
But if spoken from a vicious ground ...

          I won't listen.

                    YET ...

If you shake the hatred FREE,
And speak with sound integrity ...

          I ... WILL ... listen ...

For you and I can save our race,
If we just speak kindly, face-to-face ...

          And LISTEN.
