Souls In the Sand

She awoke to an ocean
Breeze from the door
Rose petals were scattered
From the bed towards the door

Early morning, sunrise coffee
From a balcony with a view
Down below scrolled in the sand
A heart, said I love you

They'll leave their hearts on the beach
And their souls in the sand
From strangers to lovers
To more than just friends

Tonight he'll reveal
Just all he has planned
They'll leave their hearts on the beach
And their souls in the sand

That evening they watched the sunset
As the waves crashed, near the soft fires flame
Between the wine and the blanket they lay on
She gave in with only passion to blame

Come morning he held her, in his arms
And they watched as the sun rose again
They waited so long to make love
But soon they'd give in again

They left their hearts on the beach
And their souls in the sand
From strangers to lovers
To more than just friends

Last night he revealed
All he had planned
They left their hearts on the beach
And their souls in the sand

Before they packed up, to go back, he took out
A small piece of paper and pen
The empty bottle would serve as the vessel
For the note, they wrote and put in

We left our hearts on the beach
And our souls in the sand
They initialed and dated
When their love began

I'll love you forever
Till eternity ends
Now adrift on the ocean
How their love began

They left their hearts on the beach
And their souls in the sand
