Soul Mates

Soul Mate

Our eyes met as she pulled beers at The Stumble Inn.
Yeah, I know; I fall in lust at the drop of my pants.
I mean my hat.
Only this was different.
She was different; deeply spiritual.
Ah, true love!
“Fool!” I thought. “She’s married to a stud.”
Panicked, I searched out her left hand.
No ring! No ring!
“Wait” I protested; “a boyfriend!”
I steeled for war.
“No man will best me for her heart.
He can have nothing I don’t!
She and I will walk out as one.”
A pretty waif, golden hair in a half-pony, walked up to the bar.
She leaned forward, locked eyes with and passionately kissed my soul mate.
I considered a sex change; said, aloud, “Nah won’t matter”.
Head up, I walked out.
My hunt would carry on.
