Love Poem: Soon

Soon

I miss your arms holding me close.
I miss your bright blue eyes seeing past my insecurities
I miss your voice telling me the truth when I feel like mine only tells me lies
I miss feeling like the only person in the world because you're near me.
I miss the touch of your lips on my forehead, showing me I'm safe.
"Soon." Has become a mantra that I have to hear you say
"Soon." Doesn't feel like it's coming fast enough
"Soon." I won't have to see your face through a pixelated picture
"Soon." We'll be only across campus, not across the country
I miss eating breakfast, before rushing off to class
I miss walking along the paths,
wishing that time would stop so I didn't have to leave you
I miss feeling like we're flying through the world,
long-boarding with everywhere and nowhere to go.
I miss late night strolls, midday meetups and chapel cuddles
I miss hearing your laugh, through a speaker it isn't the same
I miss playing a game and like the world might wait for me
I miss feeling like I'm whole
I miss praising with you,
laughing with you,
praying with you,
and even being teased endlessly by you.
I miss you,
and
"Soon." Can't get here soon enough
"Soon." Is on its way
"Soon." I'll get to hug you
"Soon." It'll be here, because
"Soon." Will be next month
"Soon." Will be next week
"Soon." Will be tomorrow
"Soon." Will be today
And then I won't have to miss you anymore.
"Soon." my forever, "soon."
