Solace

Like Sunday morning in the pew, Peace like rain flows over the dreams, Reassuring, cleansing, calming… Beauty so gentle and enlightening Never doubting the warmth of the sun Who will shine through the clouds, Refusing to be outdone by the breathless Whispers of rain splattering leaves, Erasing the dust from a summer’s sigh Like music playing softly in the distance, Hesitating in rhythms, enchanting Sensitive as the prayers so faithful, Prayers for grace, for truth, for wisdom Prayers for the day when light pours out From the heavens, raining down a joy That pierces the darkness and destroys Every doubt, every flavor of hurt… Restoring the wonder, the kindness and love, Restoring the miracle of heaven’s wistful touch, The music, playing subtly from the darkness, Erasing every fear, every tear, every year of poignant Like the drowsy promise of slumber, Whispering through the soul – uncluttered Clear of all the debris that comes from doubting, The reflections of disgrace and shame, Humiliation gone, wiped clean the slate So that magnificent feelings, blessings from heaven Reach beneath the darkest dread and reveal The serenity, the contentment felt By a heart who knows what it is to doubt, Then, discover the belief inside to reach out, To dream and believe – just believe Solace comes to the one who knows Faith has no words – but hope Faith has no home – but the heart Faith has no doubt, no qualms… Solace comes to the heart who knows Trusting comes to the one who loves Like Jesus loved – like Jesus loves… Unconditionally, completely, wholly From a spirit who knows grace restores Solace to the hungry soul!
