So Bad

When a bright, sunlit, Morning filled room, Finally seems happy, Something has changed. You wipe away the cigarette ashes, From the windowsill, Erasing the traces of agony, You once felt. Smiling to yourself, While you sip black coffee, And look at people passing by, Alive, just as you are. Gone are the nightmares, The memories have vanished, But you still detest yourself, Since this was not because of you. The arrival of someone new, To increase your self-worth, Is a band-aid or temporary fix, Concealing the desolation below.
