Snowy Love

a modest snowball spirals through the air-- burst of laughter
As soon as I see his expression, I know I'm in trouble. I usually have terrible aim, so my success is a result of pure luck. I watch his body stiffen in surprise before he wipes the snow from his shoulder and turns toward me. He tries to keep a straight face - to be intimidating - but of course his lips twitch until they stretch into his trademark grin. Shaking his head, his sparkling eyes say, You're in for it now. Swallowing another laugh, I turn to flee, but he's faster. Before I know it, his arms have encircled my waist and I'm being tackled to the ground.
a heavy snowfall softens the frozen ground-- two breaths mingle
