Snapping Peas

She snapped peas
all summer until sundown
when wind sang through the oaks--
hoping he would return--
yellow ribbon, and all.
She loved him always,
yellow ribbon, and all.
Hoping he would return
when wind sang through the oaks,
all summer until sundown
she snapped peas.
