Love Poem: Slow Death

Slow Death

How acid strong this taste of bitter fruit,
foul odor which offends from deep within,
reflecting all the loss and vain pursuit,
the dream for sincere love not found again.

Each day the dying scent grows stronger still
from pain inside the belly of defeat.
Weakening spirit with no sense of will
to walk again in hope for love to seek.

How many times can one sustain the angst?
Reverberant rejection of your kind
and for some grand illusion give God thanks.
Then wake and look for joy you cannot find.

Is it the plan of life to kill love's fire?
Resulting in a death from vain desire.
